 Early in the morning pick up to the unique hike from the highest volcano in Central America, Irazú Volcano (3432 m) through beautiful farmland, cloud forest and high barren plains. Along the hike several species of animals can be observed, such as Squirrels, Porcupine Armadillos, and Bell Birds among others. Then we continue to Transfer to San Gerardo de Dota to The Environmental Harmony Lodge.
The Environmental Harmony Lodge will give a short tour through their garden of medicinal plants and their organic agriculture and solid waste recycling projects. In addition, from Environmental Harmony you can see 14 mountain peaks – including Pangolín, Frío, Las Vueltas, Ojo de Agua, Quebrada Seca, among others – with incredible views of the Quetzales National Park.  We will begin the day’s hike to the heart of Los Santos Forestry Reserve very early in the morning. Along the way you will observe dense virgin forest (Humid Tropical Forest), where a large number of plant and animal species coexist in perfect harmony; this is an ideal place to observe birds and insects.
Overnight: at La Chaqueta Lodge, where we will be attended to by the Mora family, who devote most of their time to subsistence agriculture and eco-tourism.

 The day will begin with a delicious breakfast to send us off The day will begin with a delicious breakfast to send us off again on the trail leading to the community of Piedras Blancas, where the Granados family will await us at the Río Lodge. We will eat a lunch that is typical of this area and then in the afternoon continue to Rancho Tinamú. On this hike you will observe a landscape of primary forest interspersed with agricultural and pasture land belong to people who live in neighboring areas. During the journey you must cross the Savegre River twice, once on a hanging bridge and then on a hand rope. Overnight: Rancho Tinamú.

 At this time you can either stay a little longer on this farm or begin a 3-hour hike after breakfast in order to go white-water rafting in the Savegre River (hike on a down-hill trail that goes through pastures and mountain stretches). Rafting begins at 1:00 p.m., leaving from the community of Río Blanco and ending in the community of Silencio de Savegre, which takes about 2 hours; the rafting level is class II and III. This will bring us to an end of the hike along the “Quetzal Route.”
If you do not chose to go rafting you can stay a little longer at Rancho Tinamú and hike through the farm. You can hike on a nature trail and observe the different activities on a traditional campesino farm, such as milking cows, caring for chickens and pigs, and visit an alternative energy micro-project (biodigestor). In the afternoon you will hike to the community of Londres in Quepos where the route will end. Transfer to Manuel Antonio. End of services.
